"True there were no flashing guns, no bombs, no killings. Revolution . . . doesn't need violence. The general strike, as practiced in Seattle, is of itself the weapon of revolution, all the more dangerous because quiet. To succeed, it must suspend everything, stop the entire life stream of a community...That is to say, it puts the government out of operation. And that is all there is to revolt-no matter how achieved." -- Mayor of Seattle, Washington, during the city's general strike in 1919 (from an article by Howard Zinn in The Progressive magazine, January 2000, p20)

Cold weather training canceled due to snowstorm

I think this is humor/satire.

ANCHORAGE, Ak. — Cold weather endurance and survival training were recently canceled for a battalion of the 3d Cavalry Regiment due to a snowstorm that hit the Anchorage area.

The recent snowstorm and vehicle trouble have not been the only hindrances to the training, however, according to Cpl. Martin Brown.

“Supply sent us up here with two pallets of regular MREs, instead of the cold weather ones, and they’re frozen solid. First sergeant said to put ’em in our sleeping bags with us at night to thaw, but guys are getting frostbite on their junk because of it,” Brown said.

The agency will spend nearly £350million on space safety programmes - including clearing up space - over the next five years.

One of the ESA missions would involve using tentacle-like mechanical arms to embrace a dead satellite and drag it out of orbit.

The agency are considering several different technologies to achieve their goal including using a net, a harpoon and a satellite with a robotic arm attached.

Hunter Biden's Lawyer Abruptly Quits After 'Father-Of-The-Year' Blows Off Child Support Hearing

Hunter Biden's lawyer abruptly quit on Monday after the former Vice President's son and Ukraine energy expert failed to show up for a child support hearing regarding his out-of-wedlock child with a D.C. stripper from Arkansas.

According to the Daily Mail, lawyer Dustin McDaniel - the former Attorney General for Arkansas, filed a motion to withdraw after he says Biden's personal lawyer 'advised' him that he was being discharged.

"(C)ounsel will take all steps reasonably practical to protect defendant's interests and make every effort to ensure an efficient and judicious transition for new counsel," wrote McDaniel.

Lunden Roberts, 28, is suing Biden for $11,000 in legal fees, plus child support payments after a DNA test revealed he was the father. Biden, meanwhile, says he's broke an has requested that the judge seal his financial records due to "significant debts" despite having been paid vast sums of money while sitting on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma.

The lowest temperature measured during the opening days of December was -4.0 degrees at Tasmania's Mount Wellington early on Wednesday morning. This was Australia lowest summer temperature in four years.

More impressively, the highest temperature recorded at Thredbo Top Station during the 24 hours to 9am on Tuesday was only -1.0 degrees. This was Australia's lowest summer daily maximum temperature on record, beating -0.8 degrees at Mount Buller from December 25th in 2006.

EU government opposes proposed law that would stop pedophilia

According to the Polish Constitution, the citizens can submit their own referendum and call it to vote. Poland’s “Stop Pedophilia” bill holds public schools to new standards, preventing school officials from promoting sexual activity to minors under the guise of “education.” Over 265,000 Polish citizens have signed the measure, demanding new standards for sex education that protect children from sexual exploitation.

Disturbingly, the members of the European Union Parliament are contesting the bill, violating Poland’s sovereignty in the process. The EU wants to stop the bill because sex education is a matter of “access to health, including sexual and reproductive health.” In fact, 471 MEPs voted to condemn Poland’s “Stop Pedophilia” bill. These leftists in power claim the bill violates “human rights” because the bill supposedly criminalizes sex education to minors.

Congo: Millions Die While the “UN Keeps the Peace”

With 18,000 troops, the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Congo is the largest in the world, and it has been in Congo for 20 years without protecting the people or the peace. A young protester in Beni told Aljazeera, “The UN is supposed to keep us safe, to keep peace in North Kivu, but we’ve never seen the peace. So we are so angry we don’t want them to stay here in North Kivu.”

Congolese Swiss historian Bénédicte Kumbi Njoko also spoke to Aljazeera:

“If we think about the UN and its presence, we need to go back to almost 59 years that the UN has been working in the Congo because there were problems in the country. And I think that if we take that into perspective, we can of course question the utility of this organization, because what we have seen the last 20 years now is that people are still dying and this war that is happening in the Congo has caused already more than 8 million deaths, so maybe the response that the UN is giving to that situation is not an appropriate one.”

    Webmaster's Commentary:

It's about the resources, folks, and who controls them. A little more than a year ago, we find the following story in zerohedge.com:

Hot economic warfare: scrambling for rare earth minerals

The article goes on to state: "In countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo, columbite-tantalite, a mineral used in the manufacture of semi-conductor chips, is such a hot commodity that rival warlords, some acting on behalf of outside players, including Rwanda, Uganda, Israel, Japan, China, and the United States battle one another for control of the mineral’s extraction and export.

The Rwanda Mines, Petroleum, and Gas Board signed a deal in 2017 with a major Japanese rare earth extraction firm for the exploration and mining of rare earths, as well as tungsten, in Rwanda. However, Rwandan President Paul Kagame is known to have backed fellow Tutsi rebels in the DRC, who exploit rare earth mines in South and North Kivu provinces and send the stolen minerals to Rwanda. There have been attempts to curtail the trade in “conflict minerals” in the Great Lakes region of Africa, but they have all come to no avail."

And so, UN soldiers do what they do best; they simply allow the violence to continue, not wanting to get in the middle of these wars for 21st century riches.

How Dumb Have We Become? Chinese Students Are 4 Grade Levels Ahead Of US Students In Math

Authored by Michael Snyder via The End of The American Dream blog,

How in the world is America supposed to remain “the greatest country on Earth” when other nations are absolutely running circles around us when it comes to education? As you will see below, one survey found that 15-year-old students in China are almost four full grade levels ahead of 15-year-old students in the United States in mathematics. This is one of the most damning indictments of our education system that I have ever come across, and it is yet another clear indication that what we are doing is simply not working. Our children are not being given the tools that they need to compete in our modern society, and we have only ourselves to blame.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

One of the biggest burdens on the education system in this country, was the adoption of "Common Core", inflicted on America's schools by Barak Obama in 2009.

And so the "gifts" from this program, just keep on giving; American students are, largely, illiterate; innumerate, and incapable of critical thinking, all of which are desperately needed to function in real life.

New Evidence Shows Common Core Has Been a Total Disaster

How Common Core Is Destroying Training of Teachers

How Common Core And Screen Overdoses Are Ruining American Kids’ Intelligence

But if something like "Common Core" is simply allowed to persist, and past the transition from a Democratic to a Republican president, there are reasons why this is allowed to continue.

Intellectually, and sometimes chemically challenged individuals, particularly as kids, make far better targets for governmental manipulation, than does someone who has a fundamentally "top-down" understanding of how things work.

So if a population of a country is unable to think critically, starting with those crucial, formative school years, and is also chemically disabled, through the easy availability of SSRIS, or other pharmacologically active drugs thrust upon them, the government believes that anything it says, no matter how completely ludicrous, is most probably going to be taken at face value, even though it might be the polar opposite of the truth.

Ever since the inception of the Vietnam War, I have understood, very clearly, and painfully, that the US government has a penchant for lying, in order to justify massive aggression against a country which has neither declared war against us, or done anything nasty against us.

But DAMN, it was a "heady moment" for all the military contractors, because so much of their equipment got destroyed, and had to be replaced.

It was only when President Johnson saw the massive march in DC in 69, he realized that he could not possibly get re-elected on the war agenda, that began his pilgrimage on that hard road to reality, that this war was unwinnable.

1969: Millions march in US Vietnam Moratorium.
Americans have taken part in peace initiatives across the United States to protest against the continuing war in Vietnam.
The Peace Moratorium is believed to have been the largest demonstration in US history with an estimated two million people involved.

The wars, and war crimes, in which this country has been monumentally complicit since then, are crystal-clear testaments to the butt-ugly truth; that most generally, the Federal Government has gotten its population precisely where it wants it: sated with readily-available prescription drugs, putting them in a state of stupor; always craving new distractions; and trapped by the inability to think critically, when it comes to both personal, and political decisions.

Can we make our education system the envy of the world?!?

But the leadership is then going to have to put up with the fact that some thinking, peaceful Americans are going to, both logically and publicly, criticize how and what this government is doing, and ask for a real, and responsible, and substantive change in its course of action.

And THAT is something that those entrenched in the Bowels of Power in this country, never want to see happen.

The ‘Vaccine Court’ Is Hazardous To Your Health

The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Compensation Act was passed in 1986, under the shadow of multi-million dollar jury verdicts against the makers of the Diphtheria Pertussis and Tetanus (DPT) vaccine. Congress announced that vaccine injuries and deaths are real and provided that vaccine-injured children and their families would be financially compensated. Part of the larger Vaccine Act, the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) was modeled after workers’ compensation programs. It was to be a “no-fault” program.

SCOTT RITTER: The ‘Whistleblower’ and the Politicization of Intelligence

manifested in an 11-page report submitted to the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) on August 12 alleging wrongdoing on the part of the president of the United States, jump-started an ongoing impeachment process targeting Donald Trump that has divided the American body politic as no other issue in contemporary time.

His identity has been cloaked in a shroud of anonymity which has proven farcical, given that his name is common knowledge throughout the Washington-based national security establishment in whose ranks he continues to serve. While Trump publicly calls for the identity of the whistleblower to be revealed, the mainstream media has played along with the charade of confidentiality, and Congress continues to pretend his persona is a legitimate national security secret, even as several on-line publications have printed it, along with an extensive document trail sufficient to corroborate that the named man is, in fact, the elusive whistleblower.

Cartel Violence Explodes - Has Mexico Finally Lost All Control?

Authored by Sarah Cowgill via LibertyNation.com,

On the heels of President Donald Trump’s attempts to designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs), an attack uncomfortably close to U.S. soil has the Mexican government scrambling and the president fuming. At least 22 died over the weekend as rival cartels struggling for Northern Mexico turf dominance clashed with local law enforcement in Villa Union, Coahuila, an hour’s drive from Eagle’s Pass, TX. The brazen attack seemingly was directed at the Mexican government to send a warning as to who is in charge.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

I think that the real question which should be asked is, was Mexico's government ever, really, in control of cartel violence in the first place, and the short answer is, "HELL no!".

My late maternal grandmother, Thelma, lived in Eagle's Pass Texas as a kid, and when I was a teenager, she took me there to meet an old family friend; the place looked like a broken stepchild of two countries which had no real compunction to fix anything which, to my eyes, meant everything.
The grinding, unrelenting urban poverty I remember seeing, broke my heart, and I wondered how this town was supposed to survive, in such a condition.

Fast-forward to 2019, and it is very obvious to me, that the drug cartels have taken over on both sides of the US/Mexico border.

But if President Trump wants to put an end to this alleged "war on drugs", which is utterly doomed to failure, in its current configuration, all he has to do, is to declassify, and decriminalize small amounts of drugs for personal use, then have those using referred to counseling, rather than jail.

And guess what European country has already made this work, at least to some degree: Portugal's radical drugs policy is working, so why hasn't the world copied it?

Now I will be the first to admit that this policy had areas where it didn't work; however, that being said, it is one hell of a lot more practical, and more compassionate, than nearly anything being done in the US.

Now they tell us! Peace processors say enabling Israel settlements has been US policy for 4 decades

What do Paul Wolfowitz, Dan Kurtzer, Aaron Miller, and Prince Andrew have in common?

These four privileged older white guys have all sought (and been granted) exposure in the corporate media recently. Paul Wolfowitz, one of the prime architects and advocates of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, was given this fine platform on the NYT’s opinion page in order to criticize Pres. Trump’s recent decision to withdraw (or later, reduce/redeploy) the U.S. troop presence in Syria. Dan Kurtzer and Aaron Miller, two of the leading “peace processors” guiding U.S. policy on Palestine and other Middle Eastern issues for 24 years, 1992-2016, were given this platform on the Washington Post, to comment on Trump’s policy on Israel’s illegal settlement. As for Prince Andrew, you may have heard he gave this disastrous interview to the BBC, discussing his ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein.

Israel’s plan to build new settlement atop Hebron market evokes painful memories for residents

A new Israeli settlement will be built in the heart of the flashpoint city of Hebron, in the southern West Bank, joining a long list of notoriously violent settlements in the area.

Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennet, of the ultra nationalist “New Right” party, said on Sunday that a new settlement would be built on top of Hebron’s once bustling fruit and vegetable market, now referred to by locals as a “ghost town.”

According to Bennet, the existing buildings, which belong to the Hebron municipality, will be razed to the ground to make way for new shops and buildings for the settlers.

The new settlement will create a contiguous settlement bloc in the middle of Hebron’s Old City, extending from the Ibrahimi Mosque to the Avraham Avinu settlement, and according to Bennet, will double the Jewish population of the city.
