China is increasing its military drills as tensions with US heat up

China is stepping up military drills around East Asia as a war of words with the United States heats up over Washington's military activities and the visit of a US cabinet secretary to Taiwan.

One Chinese think tank even says the People's Liberation Army (PLA) may consider live-fire exercises near the US island of Guam.

Beijing has stepped up the pace of its war games in recent weeks, after the US sent two aircraft carrier strike groups on rare dual-carrier exercises in the South China Sea twice in the month of July.

But the visit of US Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar to the self-governed island of Taiwan this week has added fuel to the smoldering tensions. Azar is the highest-ranking US official to visit the island -- which Beijing regards as Chinese territory -- in decades.

Azar's presence in Taipei is "a serious breach" of US commitments on Taiwan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said Monday afternoon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Chines Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lijian, please be aware that "Health and Human Services" Secretary is no where near a "Secretary of Defense"; please, we all need to pull back from this cliff, and right the heck now!!

US-China relations: America is looking to outgun PLA in Indo-Pacific, observers say

US Army Chief of Staff James McConville said at a recent online event hosted by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington-based think tank, he was making “long-range precision fire” his top priority and was looking at options for basing such weapons systems in the Indo-Pacific as part of America’s deterrence strategy.

The changes “will allow us to overmatch” potential adversaries like China and Russia, he said, adding the move would also include “establishing joint all-domain task forces”.

McConville’s comments came after US Marine Corps commander General David Berger said in March in his “Force Design 2030” plan he wanted to reduce the role of marines in ground warfare and leave the bulk of that responsibility to regular troops.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is obvious that there are those in power in this country who are just trigger happy enough - and vile enough - to magically believe that another world war would magically resolve all of the US's economic problems, which it will not.

This country doesn't have the money; the troop strength; the manufacturing; or the weaponry to pursue a successful conclusion to a war against China. And such a war will not resolve those situations, only exacerbate them.

The Jakarta Method: How The U.S. Used Mass Murder To Beat Communism

Indonesia was considered especially crucial during the 1960s as one of the leading non-aligned countries with the largest communist party outside the USSR and China. U.S. officials saw it as a “prize” far more valuable than South Vietnam, and in 1965-66 it was violently yanked into the U.S. orbit by mass murder. The Indonesian military under Suharto and its auxiliaries carried out mass killings against communists and suspected communists, and they murdered up to one million innocent people for nothing more than their presumed political affiliations.

Germany Pullout: Esper Says Troops are Moving Closer to Russia

President Trump’s plan to withdraw about 12,000 troops from Germany has received enormous backlash from Congress and the media. The common criticism is that the move is a “gift” to Russian President Vladimir Putin. But that argument ignores the fact that about half of the troops that are leaving Germany are moving closer to Russia’s border.

In an interview with Fox News, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said the troop movement will “deter” Russia. “We are moving many troops further east, closer to Russia’s border, to deter them,” Esper said. The Pentagon chief took the line of argument President Trump is making and said Germany is not paying its “fair share.”

Esper also pointed out that despite the drawdown from 36,000 to 24,000 troops, Germany will still host more US military personnel than any other NATO ally. “It is collective security, it is about our collective responsibility to stand up to the Russians.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, Secretary Esper, but from WHAT are the US troops "deterring Russia", and why do we have to "stand up to them"?!?

Considering the massive expense of these deployments, how in the world are they actually benefiting Americans going about their daily business of life?!?

Chaos In Chicago: Bridges Raised To Prevent Gun-Toting Looters Getting Downtown

Hundreds of 'mostly peaceful protesters' swept through the Magnificent Mile and other parts of downtown Chicago early Monday, smashing windows, looting stores, confronting police and at one point exchanging gunfire with officers, authorities said.

Nearly 50% of all smartphones affected by Qualcomm Snapdragon bugs

Several security vulnerabilities found in Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip Digital Signal Processor (DSP) chip could allow attackers to take control of more than 40% of all smartphones without user interaction, spy on their users, and create un-removable malware capable of evading detection.

DSPs are system-on-chip units are used for audio signal and digital image processing, and telecommunications, in consumer electronics including TVs and mobile devices.

Despite their complexity and the number of new features and capabilities DSP chips can add to any device, unfortunately, they also introduce new weak points and expand the devices' attack surface.

The vulnerable DSP chip "can be found in nearly every Android phone on the planet, including high-end phones from Google, Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and more," according to Check Point researchers who found these vulnerabilities.

UK hospital denied intensive care treatment to over half its coronavirus patients

“First, do no harm” is the most iconic – if not, the most important – maxim in the medical profession. But a leading hospital in London not only failed to uphold these principles, but it also imposed treatment limitations on over half of its COVID-19 patients at the height of the pandemic.

King’s College Hospital, one of the largest teaching hospitals in London, had do-not-resuscitate orders in place for COVID-19 patients, reports the Daily Mail, and even barred them from receiving intensive care treatment. The report revealed that only 18 percent of patients, or less than one in five people, were admitted to King’s intensive care unit. Even worse, a total of 61 percent of COVID-19 patients admitted to King’s had treatment limitations placed on them. This meant that over half of patients admitted to hospital for COVID-19 did not have access to potentially life-saving treatments.

The NATO Conquest Of Eastern Europe

Authored by 'G2 Mil' via The Duran,

General Dwight Eisenhower was the first NATO supreme allied commander.

After assuming that post in 1951, General Eisenhower wrote about NATO’s goal:

“If in 10 years, all American troops stationed in Europe for national defense purposes have not been returned to the United States, then this whole project will have failed.”

It did fail because seven decades later, long after the Soviet Union dissolved, NATO still exists with thousands of American troops deployed throughout Europe.

The Warsaw Pact was disbanded in 1991 as Soviet troops withdrew from Eastern Europe. The American empire exploited this peace to expand NATO and absorb former Warsaw Pact nations and even former Soviet republics while deploying NATO forces to Russia’s borders.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So the logical question must be asked; with all the millions and billions these deployments cost the US government, as to why these deployments still exist, and is there a really intelligent reason for them?!?

Defiant Erdogan Says Turkey Has Resumed Mediterranean Gas Exploration & Drilling

While over a week ago it was looking as if Turkey might back down on its ambitious oil and gas exploration aims in the eastern Mediterranean amidst global pressure, especially coming from the EU and US, President Erdogan is defiant once again, announcing Friday the resumption of energy exploration work that Greece and Cyprus says violates their territorial waters.

Emerging from Friday prayers at Hagia Sophia - which Turkey recently declared a mosque (in another shot aimed at Greece) - Erdogan said: "We have started drilling work again," and added, "I don’t think we are obligated to talk to those who do not have rights in the areas of maritime powers.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question here, is not if Greece will retaliate, potentially militarily; the question is, how, and when, will it respond militarily.

IF I am viewing this correctly, I would suggest that the world will not have to wait until mid-Fall to see the shape, and scope, of Greece's response.

No Confidence? EU Should Reinvent Itself Now Before the Inevitable Rot Sets In

Authored by Martin Jay via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

The EU is facing a crisis like never before. Even its own fanatic supporters are talking about an end game after recent concessions over a corona rescue plan have exposed how little grip Brussels has left. It’s all hidden in the small print.

A big sticking point is fisheries of course. France is putting huge pressure on Michel Barnier to negotiate something for the French. Before joining the EU, Britain had more or less a monopoly of the seas surrounding its shores – which it lost when it joined the European Union with now other countries fishing six times more fish than the UK. The trade deal itself also has a number of difficult areas which neither side wants to concede.

The Days Of Tracking Robinhood Data Are Now Officially Over

For years, the website RobinTrack.net has been doing a great job of mining RobinHood's data to provide raw data and a visualization of which stocks the users of the retail brokerage have been holding and disposing of on a daily basis.

RobinTrack.net has been a wonderful way to keep an eye on exactly what stocks the bagholder crowd have been rushing into on a daily basis, providing insight into the hysteria of retail daytraders, allowing hedge funds to likely frontrun the data and providing opportunities for short sellers looking for ideas.

But those days appear to be all but over.

On Friday, CNBC reported that the brokerage will no longer display how many of its users hold a certain stock. In addition it is going to be taking down its public API data that allows other sites, like RobinTrack.net, to source its data for visualization and analysis purposes.

China Slaps Retaliatory Sanctions On Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio & Other China Hawks

In retaliation for Washington slapping sanctions on Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam, along with several mainland officials, China on Monday has slapped sanctions on ten American lawmakers - all Republicans - over their support for the Trump Administration's decision to strip Hong Kong of its "special status" and America's hectoring of Chinese (and HK) officials over their support for the new Beijing-imposed national security law.

Critics, including the US, UK and most western Democracies, have accused Beijing of willfully violating international law by imposing these "illegal" changes to the HK Basic Law, a UN-registered international treaty. Now, Beijing is accusing the US of foreign meddling in Hong Kong.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These sanctions are more for show than anything else, to make it appear that Beijing is actually "doing something" to respond to the sanctions against it, which are also more for show than anything tangible.

Hong Kong Police Arrest Media Mogul Jimmy Lai; Shares Of Pro-Democracy Paper Soar 300%

Mark your calendars, because critics of the CCP are saying that Hong Kong's press freedom officially died on Monday.
