May's EU deal vote BLOCKED - Leadsom resignation causes Parliamentary CHAOS

THERESA MAY is facing fresh chaos tonight after Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom dramatically resigned from the Government over Brexit.

...

Brexiteer Mrs Leadsom said in a letter to Mrs May: “I cannot fulfil my duty as Leader of the House tomorrow, to announce a Bill with new elements that I fundamentally oppose.”

Mrs Leadsom’s resignation means there is no Commons Leader to introduce the Business Statement to MPs.

GALLUP POLL: 43 PERCENT OF AMERICANS THINK SOCIALISM IS GOOD

Forty-three percent of Americans think socialism would be a good thing for the United States, while a slim majority — 51 percent — of those surveyed in a Gallup Poll released on May 20 think it would be a bad thing. The figures contrast markedly with a Roper/Fortune survey taken in 1942, in which 25 percent of those polled described socialism as a good thing, 40 percent as a bad thing, and 34 percent did not have an opinion.

MOSSAD AND THE RISE OF THE VC-SPY ALLIANCE

The growth of intelligence agencies in the 21st century has been powered by the development of new technologies, created by start-ups, which are powered by intelligence agencies. This unvirtuous circle of money and espionage is a new and daunting challenge for civil liberties and human rights groups.

Inside 'Middle Class Joe's' fundraising sweep: Democratic frontrunner Biden is hitting up millionaires for campaign cash at private club events stocked with langoustine, caviar and live jazz

In a campaign where Internet fundraising has vaulted lesser-known candidates to prominence, Vice President Joe Biden has been hauling in campaign cash both online and at sleek fundraising events featuring fine dining, exclusive locales, and music.

The former vice president has stressed his middle class roots and upbringing in hardscrabble Scranton, but has been relying on an old-fashioned network of wealthy donors to amass a fundraising advantage to match his poling lead over Democrats.

One recent event in Los Angeles took him to the Exclusive Jonathan Club, which features 'luxurious accommodations' and 'incredible views,' according to its website.

Christopher Steele's nugget of fool's gold was easily disproven — but FBI didn't blink an eye

Of all the wild tales that Christopher Steele spun about Russia-Trump collusion during a visit to the State Department shortly before the 2016 election, only one was deemed worth forwarding to his FBI handlers.

Long hidden, the now-disclosed email speaks volumes about both the quality of Steele’s so-called intelligence gathering and the FBI’s willingness to vet an informant who was openly biased against Donald Trump, paid by Trump’s Democratic opponent, and motivated by an Election Day deadline.

Multiple sources confirm to me that the attachment that Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec sent to then-FBI section chief Stephen Laycock on Oct. 13, 2016, was a summary from Steele’s company alleging Trump and Russia might be communicating through a computer server at Russia’s Alfa Bank.

Michael Avenatti charged with ripping off porn star Stormy Daniels, trying to extort Nike in new indictments

Controversial lawyer Michael Avenatti was indicted on charges of trying to extort athletic shoe giant Nike out of tens of millions of dollars by threatening to go public with embarassing information about the company, according to federal court documents unsealed Wednesday in New York.

The indictment, which Avenatti had said Tuesday was imminent, was expected, as he had already been arrested on a criminal complaint that contained similar allegations of a brazen shakedown effort of Nike by hyper-aggressive attorney in March.

World Ready for US Collapse as Empire Hemorrhages Gold, Oil and Credibility

Some ironies are just too precious to pass by. The 2016 US presidential elections gave us Donald Trump, a reality TV star whose famous tag line from his show “The Apprentice” was “You are fired!” Focus on this tag line; it is all that is important to this story. Some Trump Derangement Disorder sufferers might disagree. This is because they are laboring under certain misapprehensions: that the US is a democracy; or that it matters who is president. It isn’t and it doesn’t. By this point, the choice of president matters as much as the choice of conductor for the band that plays aboard a ship as it vanishes beneath the waves.

How Obama Colluded With Ukraine to Help Hillary Against Trump

While a two-year investigation into President Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Russian officials has produced no evidence of any “collusion,” the mainstream media continues to ignore troubling connections between the Obama administration and foreign governments.

The most recent example involves former Obama White House counsel Greg Craig and how he allegedly misled the U.S. Justice Department about his law firm’s work in Ukraine. Craig is charged with providing false and misleading information to the Foreign Agent Registration Act office regarding the trial of Yulia Tymoshenko, a political rival of the country’s then-president, Viktor Yanukovych. Former Trump campaign head Paul Manafort was seemingly held to a different standard under the same act during Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Mueller Will Be in a Courtroom When Election Season Is in Full Swing

House Democrats, frustrated by President Trump’s efforts to stonewall their investigations and eager to stoke public anger about the president’s behavior, are pinning their diminishing hopes on Robert S. Mueller III yet again…. Mr. Mueller, who was invited to testify by the chairmen of the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees a month ago, has not agreed to do so. — The New York Times

Oh? Is that so? Do you wonder why Mr. Mueller might not want to open his aching heart to any House committee in the desperate, last-ditch effort to wring some impeachment joy juice from the already wrung-out narrative of his disappointing report? For the excellent reason that the minority Republican members of said committees get to ask questions too, and they are sure to be embarrassing questions, perhaps placing the Special Counsel in legal jeopardy.

Questions raised over Florida Cabinet meeting in Israel

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is going to Israel with a large contingent of business leaders — not surprisingly, especially as the GOP woos Jewish voters ahead of the 2020 presidential election. But DeSantis' plan to hold a meeting with his elected Cabinet while he's there has raised concerns about whether officials are violating the state's open-meeting laws.

When DeSantis first announced the trade mission, he noted that his attorney general, chief financial officer and agriculture commissioner would accompany him, and that the Cabinet would hold a meeting at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem during the trip, which runs from May 25 to May 31.

Democratic Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried had previously planned a trade mission to the country, but there was no apparent reason why the other two were going, except for the Cabinet meeting.

How Top-Down Government Fails America’s Poor

By Max Gulker

A well-functioning society should provide a safety net for its members struggling the most. The unavoidable role of luck in market outcomes, the variability of circumstances in which people are born, and the imperative simply to alleviate suffering all speak to this need.

Our debate about safety nets and responses to poverty hinges on a fundamental fallacy — that services are either provided by the government or not at all. This falsely constructed debate diverts resources that could be used to directly help the poor, and often erroneously casts those favoring less government involvement in the economy as not caring about poverty...

Breaking: Federal Judge Orders Release of Trump’s Tax Returns

On May 10, House Dem Ways and Means Committee chairman Richard Neal subpoenaed Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and IRS commissioner Charles Rettig to release Trump’s personal tax returns for the 2013-18 period, along with other returns for several of his businesses.

The move followed Mnuchin’s refusal to voluntarily comply with the House request, claiming it was politically motivated.

According to 1924 US legislation, the House and Senate Joint Committee on Taxation may request for examination anyone’s personal tax information.

Federal law also requires candidates for federal office, as well as current office holders and their senior staff — including congressional members, the president and vice president, along with their cabinet members, and senior administration staff — to comply with provisions of the 1978 Ethics in Government Act. It applies to Supreme Court justices as well.

Israel Attorney General delays Netanyahu corruption hearing

Israel’s Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has agreed to delay Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s indictment hearing until October, bowing to months of pressure from the latter’s legal team.

Mandelblit announced today that the hearing will now be held on 2 and 3 October, three months later than the July date previously mandated by the attorney general.

This comes after Netanyahu’s lawyers yesterday asked Mandelblit to delay the hearing for at least a year due to the fact that it will deal with three separate corruption cases and there is therefore “a large amount of material to be read”, Haaretz reported. The attorney general had given the prime minister’s legal team until Monday to set a date for the hearing, but this deadline passed with no resolution.

FOX: Trump to Start Declassify Deep State Documents Including ‘Bucket 5’ in Next 7-8 Days

The Hill‘s John Solomon joined Sean Hannity on Tuesday night on his top-rated FOX News show.

Solomon told Sean Hannity that according to his sources President Trump will start declassifying documents in the next 7-8 days.

Solomon added that President Trump will start with the release of "Bucket 5" document, the exculpatory statements that the FBI possessed about its targets before it went to the FISA Court.

Today for the first time Americans support investigating the FBI’s conduct in the start of the Russia investigation.

As the U.S. Government Grows, American Prosperity Slows

By Richard M. Salsman

Myopic accounts of American economic performance are common today, permitting political partisans to cite whatever period they wish to prove any case they want. Republicans today insist that President Trump’s policies have revitalized U.S. economic growth after years of supposed stagnation under President Obama, while Democrats say Obama’s policies started the recent revival, reversing the disastrous “Great Recession” of 2008-09 which was caused by President Bush’s policies. If you pick your own period, you can “prove” almost anything.

Republican Rep. Justin Amash Gets Primary Challenge After Saying Trump Should Be Impeached

Republican Rep. Justin Amash earned himself a primary challenge after he became the first from his party to call for President Trump’s impeachment.

Amash published a twitter thread that came to various conclusions on the Russia collusion investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, chief among them that “President Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct.”

Republican Michigan State Rep. Jim Lower announced he will mount a challenge to Amash’s seat, which he has held since 2011, specifically citing those comments.

Bombshell Transcripts: Obama AG Loretta Lynch Claims James Comey Lied Under Oath

Transcripts of testimony by former Attorney General Loretta Lynch show her accusing former FBI Director James Comey of lying under oath to Congress.

Rep. Doug Collins released transcripts on Monday from several Department of Justice officials, including Lynch and former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe.

There’s really only one way to view this, folks – Lynch’s testimony shows that either she or Comey lied to Congress. As Comey’s interview was under oath, he presumably stands to suffer the greater consequences.

Loretta Lynch accuses Comey of misrepresenting key Clinton probe conversation, was 'quite surprised' by his testimony

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch has flatly accused former FBI Director James Comey of mischaracterizing her statements by repeatedly alleging, under oath, that Lynch privately instructed him to call the Hillary Clinton email probe a "matter" instead of an "investigation."

Lynch, who testified that Comey's claim left her "quite surprised," made the dramatic remarks at a joint closed-door session of the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees last December. A transcript of her testimony was released on Monday by House Judiciary Committee ranking member Doug Collins, R-Ga.

The episode marked the latest public dispute to break out among high-level ex-Obama administration officials, as multiple government reviews of potential FBI and Justice Department misconduct continue.

Now it’s Comey vs. Lynch: Someone’s lying again

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch accused former FBI Director James Comey of lying about whether she told him to refer to the Hillary Clinton email investigation as a "matter" instead of an investigation in a September 2015 meeting.

While testifying last year at a closed-door House Oversight Committee hearing last June, Comey said Lynch had pressured him to minimize the significance of the Clinton email probe – an encounter which he says left him questioning her impartiality, and – along with Lynch’s clandestine tarmac meeting on a hot summer’s day in 2016 – contributed to his decision to hold a July 2016 press conference announcing the FBI’s conclusions.

"The attorney general had directed me not to call it an investigation, but instead to call it a matter, which confused me and concerned me," said Comey. "That was one of the bricks in the load that led me to conclude, ‘I have to step away from the department if we’re to close this case credibly.'"

Judicial Watch Sues for Secret FBI Chart of Potential Violations of Law by Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Judicial Watch announced today it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Justice seeking draft copies of FBI charts containing information on potential “statutory violations” committed by Hillary Clinton in the former secretary of State’s use of a non-secure, non-government email server to conduct government business.

Judicial Watch is also suing for draft copies of talking points prepared by the FBI for its officials to use following then-Director James Comey’s July 2016 press conference during which he recommended against prosecuting Clinton for mishandling classified information.

Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia after the DOJ failed to respond to a December 3, 2018, FOIA request (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:19-cv-00800)).

AS DENVER DECRIMINALIZES MUSHROOMS, MAJOR CITY MOVES TO DECRIMINALIZE AYAHUASCA, IBOGAINE TOO

SOURCE: MATT AGORIST @ THE FREE THOUGHT PROJECT

(Support Free Thought) - Nearly seven years ago, Colorado citizens—tired of the war on drugs and wise to the near-limitless benefits of cannabis—made US history by voting to legalize recreational marijuana. Now, this state has once again placed themselves on the right side of history as they voted this month to decriminalize magic mushrooms. But this was just the beginning and their momentum is spreading—faster and stronger, toward decriminalizing all plant-based psychedelics.

Now, a major city in California is following suit, but not just with psilocybin—Oakland is calling for decriminalization of other psychedelics like mescaline cacti, ayahuasca and ibogaine.

To be clear, the recent measure does not mean that mushrooms are now legal in Denver, it simply means that cops can’t make it a priority to go after folks for them and it won’t land people in jail for possession.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A little horse-sense out of Denver these days; not necessarily a bad thing!

Brexit BOMBSHELL: How BBC admitted promoting pro-EU BIAS in its own inquiry

According to a 2005 report by The Times, the BBC's own inquiry found the broadcaster guilty of pro-EU bias.

The report, written by an independent balanced panel of eurosceptics and europhiles, did not suggest the BBC deliberately tried to bend its coverage in favour of the EU and against eurosceptics.

However, the document said there was substance to the concern that “the BBC suffers from certain forms of cultural and unintentional bias and that despite the good intentions of its producers nobody thinks the outcome is impartial”.

The report, commissioned to find out if complaints by eurosceptics were justified, said BBC News suffered from an “institutional mindset” that led to a “reluctance to question pro-EU assumptions”.

The Times reported eurosceptics, including Conservative politicians, claimed that the report vindicated their longstanding complaint that the BBC was biased against them.

Brexit party taking Wales by storm as Labour support HALVES - poll

A new YouGov poll has revealed the levels of support for each party in Wales, taken from 1,009 voters’ party preference from May 16 to 20. The figures are also compared with results from an earlier poll in April which asked who people would vote for in the European elections. The results showed the Brexit Party stormed ahead by 36 percent, which is an increase of 26 percent since the earlier poll, while Plaid Cymru came in at 19 percent, with a four percent increase.

Labour received a disappointing 15 percent, which was half of what it previously polled, followed by the Liberal Democrats at 10 percent, which was an increase of four percent from last time.

The Green Party received eight percent of the vote, which was up by five percent.

The Conservative saw a disappointing seven percent and UKIP received two percent of the vote, after they both dropped by nine percent,

Change UK got two percent too, which was six percent less than last time.

THANKS TO FACEBOOK, YOUR CELLPHONE COMPANY IS WATCHING YOU MORE CLOSELY THAN EVER

Among the mega-corporations that surveil you, your cellphone carrier has always been one of the keenest monitors, in constant contact with the one small device you keep on you at almost every moment. A confidential Facebook document reviewed by The Intercept shows that the social network courts carriers, along with phone makers — some 100 different companies in 50 countries — by offering the use of even more surveillance data, pulled straight from your smartphone by Facebook itself.
