Netanyahu defies Barack Obama's calls for halt to West Bank settlements

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, said on Monday that Israel would continue to build in existing Jewish enclaves in the West Bank, defying US President Barack Obama's call for a settlement freeze.

"Freezing life would not be reasonable," he told the Israeli parliament's Foreign Affairs and Defence committee.
