Royal BOMBSHELL: How Queen CAN choose next PM – and she's done it BEFORE

The Queen has seen 15 Prime Ministers come and go in her 66-year reign with Theresa May set to step aside on Friday. Mrs May will leave Downing Street with her Brexit deal in tatters and a Conservative Party in the midst of a leadership race with 12 would-be successors lining up to replace her. Constitutionally, the Queen can choose the Prime Minister as she retains the “right to appoint” the premier but conventions surrounding her role mean the monarch seldom, if ever, intervenes in matters of state.
