Cuts to Child Care Subsidy Thwart More Job Seekers

Able-bodied, outgoing and accustomed to working, Alexandria Wallace wants to earn a paycheck. But that requires someone to look after her 3-year-old daughter, and Ms. Wallace, a 22-year-old single mother, cannot afford child care.

Last month, she lost her job as a hair stylist after her improvised network of baby sitters frequently failed her, forcing her to miss shifts. She qualifies for a state-run subsidized child care program. But like many other states, Arizona has slashed that program over the last year, relegating Ms. Wallace’s daughter, Alaya, to a waiting list of nearly 11,000 eligible children.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Children in this society have become expendable, as this single mom has so clearly been made to realize.

If there is no family willing to assist, probably the only alternatives this mom would have would be to give her daughter up for adoption, or place her in a foster home of some kind.

FLASHBACK - German subs delivered to Israel

Two new German submarines were delivered to Israel.

The submarines, ordered in 2005, reportedly can launch cruise missiles carrying nuclear warheads, according to the French news agency AFP.

Webmaster's Commentary:

PLEASE POST THE FOLLOWING EVERYWHERE THE "BLAME NORTH KOREA" STORIES POP UP.

Now that the UN is asking for a look at the evidence for the sinking, the US is admitting the torpedo debris from the sinking comes from a GERMAN torpedo, but we are supposed to somehow assume that a German torpedo still points the finger of blame at North Korea.

Pop Quiz, students; what nation gets their submarines (for free) from Germany and has a long history of using false flag dirty tricks to trick other nations into wars?

Hint: Think "USS Liberty", "Lavon Affair", and the Bombing of Libya!

HISTORICAL NOTES ON HOW TO START WARS WITH SINKING SHIPS.

President McKinley told the American people that the USS Maine had been sunk in Havana Harbor by a Spanish mine. The American people, outraged by this apparent unprovoked attack, supported the Spanish American War. The Captain of the USS Maine had insisted the ship was sunk by a coal bin explosion, investigations after the war proved that such had indeed been the case. There had been no mine.

FDR claimed Pearl Harbor was a surprise
attack. It wasn't.
The United States saw war with Japan as the means to get into war with Germany, which Americans opposed. So Roosevelt needed Japan to appear to strike first. Following an 8-step plan devised by the Office of Naval Intelligence, Roosevelt intentionally provoked Japan into the attack. Contrary to the official story, the fleet did not maintain radio silence, but sent messages intercepted and decoded by US intercept stations. Tricked by the lie
of a surprise attack, Americans marched off to war.

President Johnson lied about the
Gulf of Tonkin to send Americans off to fight in Vietnam.

There were no torpedoes in the water in the Gulf. LBJ took advantage of an inexperienced sonar man's report to goad Congress into escalating the Vietnam War.

Israel has a long history of sinking other peoples' boats and then denying it happened.

WE HAVE BEEN DOWN THIS ROAD BEFORE.

DO NOT GET SUCKERED!

THE US GOVERNMENT IS DESPERATE FOR A WAR TO DISTRACT FROM THE CRASHING ECONOMY, THE ALREADY-LOST WARS IN AFGHANISTAN AND IRAQ, THE GULF OIL DISASTER AND THE CORRUPTION OF WALL STREET.

Drones and Democracy

The social worker recalled arriving at a home that was hit, in Miranshah, at about 9:00 PM, close to one year ago. The house was beside a matchbox factory, near the degree college. The drone strike had killed three people. Their bodies, carbonized, were fully burned. They could only be identified by their legs and hands. One body was still on fire when he reached there. Then he learned that the charred and mutilated corpses were relatives of his who lived in his village, two men and a boy aged seven or eight. They couldn't pick up the charred parts in one piece. Finding scraps of plastic, they transported the body parts away from the site. Three to four others joined in to help cover the bodies in plastic and carry them to the morgue.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Pakistani government and military, working in tandem with the US (for which, by they way, they have been handsomely compensated with your tax dollars), has declared a war against its own people.

Insurgency looks attractive when corruption, coupled with grinding poverty, and a completely non-responsive central government, become a deadly combination which creates all-consuming hatred of that government.

And that hatred can only result in one ultimate outcome, no matter how strong that country's military may be, and that is the destruction of that government.

These "armchair", extrajudicial assassinations the US is doing in Pakistan will ultimately create this result.

If chaos and the complete destabilization of Pakistan is what the US wants, then it is absolutely "on target" for accomplishing this.

Frustration mounting over BP delays, lack of progress

On a Sunday of expanding coastal destruction from the Gulf oil disaster and little progress in containing it, frustrations bubbled to the surface from local and state leaders in Venice to federal officials in Houston and Washington, D.C.

Parish leaders and Gov. Bobby Jindal emerged from an afternoon strategy session at a Venice fishing harbor to complain about a lack of urgency from federal agencies and BP to address the oil washing into coastal marshes day after day.

Jindal said he supported a decision by local and Jefferson Parish leaders on Grand Isle on Saturday to commandeer about 30 fishing vessels that BP had commissioned but hadn't deployed to lay down protective boom as the oil came ashore.

Italy suspends mark-to-market accounting on eurozone bonds

The Bank of Italy Tuesday said Italian lenders holding European government bonds in their available-for-sale portfolio don’t have to take into account possible capital gains or losses on them, in a move to safeguard capital ratios.

The decision came after volatility on European government bonds skyrocketed in recent weeks following several rating agencies downgrades, temporarily affecting the capital ratios of Italian, as well as other European, banks.

According to Italian securities laws Italian banks must deduct all the losses linked to the value of those bonds, but can only partially book capital gains.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mark-to-market accounting was what allowed ENRON to post profits that did not actually exist in order to run up their stock prices.

Supreme Court to review case of Texas death row inmate who wants DNA testing

The Supreme Court has agreed to decide whether a Texas death row inmate should have access to evidence for DNA testing that he says could clear him of three murders.

The justices said Monday they will use the case of Hank Skinner to decide whether prison inmates may use a federal civil rights law to do DNA testing that was not performed prior to their conviction.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The circumstantial evidence in this case appears to be very strong against the convicted defendant.

However, that being said,DNA testing should be used in all murder trials, to avoid the possibility of false conviction, imprisonment and execution.

The number of people exonerated by DNA evidence should be a colossal embarrassment for both state and federal justice systems, and the use of such testing should be a standard procedure in all murder cases.

S.Korea cuts trade, sea lanes with North

South Korea Monday halted trade with North Korea as part of a package of reprisals for the sinking of one of its warships, drawing strong US support but threats of attack from the communist state.

President Lee Myung-Bak also banned the North's merchant ships from South Korean waters and said Seoul would refer the March 26 attack -- which killed 46 sailors -- to the United Nations Security Council for punishment.

In a nationally televised address, a sombre-looking Lee vowed an immediate military response to any future aggression.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Although this move is infinitely more symbolic than real, in terms of the actual amount of trade which really goes on between the two Koreas, it unfortunately sets the stage for some kind of (perhaps second) false flag action to really kick the region into a state of war.

It appears as if the G20 summit in Toronto is shaping up to be a showdown between anarchists and police. Caught in the middle of the security circus are local residents. Overheated Plants Cause Global Warming?

...Carbon dioxide is not just making the atmosphere trap more heat, they say. It also enables plants to absorb CO2 more efficiently, so they don’t have to open stomata (pores) in their leaves as much, and they evaporate less water.

That should be good news, as it enables plants to survive better under dry conditions, even in desert areas where they couldn’t before.

But the Carnegie folks turned this good news into bad, ominously saying the reduced evapotranspiration means plants don’t cool down as much, and that supposedly raises global temperatures slightly.

DC Knows that Obama is Ineligible for Office

Members from all three branches of the Federal government already know that Barack Hussein Obama is ineligible for the office of President. National leaders, to include members of the US Supreme Court, already know that Barack Hussein Obama is not a “natural born citizen” of the United States of America, and therefore, is ineligible for the office he currently holds. (See JB’s new article on The Bottom Line on Natural Born Citizen)

What they don’t know is how long it will take for most Americans to figure it out, or what to do about it.

May 24 02:31

The Bottom Line on Natural Born Citizen

Does it matter? Does the “will of the people” trump the US Constitution via the outcome of an election which happened as a result of fraud, in which the candidate concealed the fact that he is not a “natural born citizen?”
Only the people can decide…

But I submit to every American the idea that if Article II—Section I of the US Constitution is no longer worthy of protection and preservation, then nothing in that document matters anymore.

If we fail to uphold Article II—Section I of the US Constitution, then we have failed to uphold, protect, preserve or defend any part of the US Constitution or the American way of life.

If the US Constitution no longer stands, then the United States of America no longer stands.

Is there a more pressing issue on the table today?

BREAKING NEWS : Australia Expels Israeli Diplomat Over Fake Passport Affair

By political correspondent Emma Rodgers : abc.net.au, news

The Federal Government is expelling an Israeli diplomat after it found Israel faked Australian passports that were used in a hit on a top Hamas leader in Dubai.

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith today condemned the fraud as “not the act of a friend” and a clear affront to Australia that cannot be tolerated.

“This is not what we expect from a nation with whom we have had such a close, friendly and supportive relationship,” he said.

In February several forged Australian passports were used in the assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

Mr Smith confirmed investigations by Australian Federal Police, ASIO and ASIS showed Israel fabricated the passports of four Australians who also had Israeli nationality.

Israelis asked to visit passport plant here before Dubai killing

Three fraudulent Australian passports, four French, 12 British, one German and eight Irish passports were used in the killing.

ISRAELI officials asked to inspect the Dublin plant where security-enhanced passports are made — just a month before a Middle East assassination by agents using forged Irish documents.

A serious diplomatic incident was looming last night after a top-level report concluded that an Israeli intelligence agency forged the Irish passports used in the murder of a Hamas operative in Dubai in January.

The Department of Foreign Affairs believes that an Israeli state agency provided the eight forged Irish passports used by agents involved in the assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

During the Six-Day War, Israel attacked and nearly sank the USS Liberty belonging to its closest ally, the USA. Thirty-four American servicemen were killed in the two-hour assault by Israeli warplanes and torpedo boats. Israel claimed that the whole affair had been a tragic accident based on mistaken identification of the ship. The American government accepted the explanation. For more than 30 years many people have disbelieved the official explanation but have been unable to rebut it convincingly. Now, Dead in the Water uses startling new evidence to reveal the truth behind the seemingly inexplicable attack.

U.S. Implicates North Korean Leader in Attack

A new American intelligence analysis of a deadly torpedo attack on a South Korean warship concludes that Kim Jong-il, the ailing leader of North Korea, must have authorized the torpedo assault, according to senior American officials who cautioned that the assessment was based on their sense of the political dynamics there rather than hard evidence.

Now that the UN is asking for a look at the evidence for the sinking, the US is admitting the torpedo debris from the sinking comes from a GERMAN torpedo, but we are supposed to somehow assume that a German torpedo still points the finger of blame at North Korea.

There were no torpedoes in the water in the Gulf. LBJ took advantage of an inexperienced sonar man's report to goad Congress into escalating the Vietnam War.

Mearsheimer and the Right Wing of the Israeli Left

One of the first to criticize Professor Mearsheimer´s prediction is a the leading proponents of this group, those on the right side of “left”. In his article “Apartheid State or a Bi-national State”, Uri Avnery agrees with Mearsheimer´s position that inhuman Israeli politics are leading the way to an apartheid situation, but disagrees with his conclusion that it will eventually become a Bi-bational state. His main reason for this assumption is that the Jews and the Palestinians don’t want to live together, thus a two-state solution.

Israel's Permanent War on Palestine

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) provides weekly snapshots of Israeli killings, targeted assassinations, arrests, home demolitions, destroyed farmland, assaults on peaceful protesters, community incursions, home invasions, and more besides full-scale attacks at its discretion - a decades-long onslaught against 1.5 million Gazans and over 2.5 million West Bank and East Jerusalem Palestinians. On May 11, a recent assault occurred in the West Bank's Lubban Al-Sharqiya village when settlers attacked a local mosque, set it ablaze and gutted it. Israeli fire-fighters blamed it on an electrical short-circuit, later investigations showing arson was responsible, what Palestinians knew all along.

Pyongyang sees US role in Cheonan sinking

Despite its strong denial of any involvement and expressions of sympathy for lost fellow Koreans, fingers are being pointed at North Korea over the tragic sinking of the 1,200-ton South Korean corvette Cheonan in the West Sea or Yellow Sea on the night of March 26.

"A North Korean torpedo attack was the most likely cause for the sinking of a South Korean warship last month," an unnamed US military official told CNN on April 26. Up to 46 of the ship's 104 sailors were killed in the sinking.

Apparently, North Korea is being set up as the fall guy in an incident that is so mysterious that a Los Angeles Times April 26 story datelined Seoul was headlined, "James Bond Theories Arise in Korean Ship Sinking".

US official: At odds with China over NKorea, Iran

The United States and China are still at odds about how to deal with North Korea over the sinking of a South Korean warship it has been blamed for, a senior U.S. official said Sunday. requiem for the gulf

Webmaster's Commentary:

This disaster has gone way beyond Obama's Katrina. This is America's Chernobyl; a disaster that could have been avoided were it not for the corruption and connivance of the US Federal Government which allowed BP to bypass safety regulations, then attempted to cover-up the scale of the disaster.

The US Federal Government, trapped by its own mendacity of decades past, is unable to ever admit error, and too arrogant to even consider apologizing. They will, as was the case with the USSR and Chernobyl, continue to try to brazen out this disaster until all options to find a scapegoat and shift the financial liability onto the people are exhausted.

If all else fails, we can count on this government to stage a distraction, most likely a new major war, to shift the attention away from the Deepwater Horizon.

Memo to North Korea: Heads up, you are next on the list of "nations the US government has to slaughter to keep looking good in a mirror."

BP won't change dispersant used in oil spill -- for now

BP plans to continue using a controversial subsea dispersant to break up a plume of oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, saying that the leading alternative could pose a risk over the long term, the EPA indicated Saturday.

The EPA issued a directive on Thursday, ordering BP to find, within 24 hours, a less toxic but equally effective chemical than its current product, Corexit 9500 -- and one that is available in sufficient quantities. The directive also gave the company 72 hours to stop applying it to the undersea gusher.

Corexit has been rated more toxic and less effective than many others on the list of 18 EPA-approved dispersants, according to testimony at a congressional hearing Wednesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

PB had and has no plans to deal with the disasters it creates by ignoring proven standards and practices with impunity.

While a British corporation, it should be banned from any offshore drilling and/or exploration anywhere near the US.

Iran, Sun Tzu and the Dominatrix

Only the powerful pro-infinite war lobby in the US is capable of framing a first step towards a full nuclear agreement with Iran as a disaster. That includes the largely discredited pro-Iraq war New York Times (the Brazil-Turkey mediation is "complicating sanctions talk") and Washington Post (Iran "creates illusion of progress in nuclear negotiations").

For the pro-war lobby the Brazil-Turkey-mediated fuel swap is a "threat" because it is on a direct collision course with an attack on Iran (initiated by Israel, then dragging the US) and "regime change" - the never-reneged Washington desire.

The Unbelievably Rampant Corruption On Wall Street

In order for a financial system to be able to function properly, it is absolutely essential that the general population has faith in it. After all, who is going to want to invest in the stock market or entrust their money to big financial institutions if there is not at least the perception of honesty and fairness in the financial marketplace? For decades, the American people did have faith in Wall Street. But now that faith is being shattered by a string of recent revelations. It seems as though the rampant corruption on Wall Street is seeping up almost everywhere now. In fact, some of the things that have come out recently have been absolutely jaw-dropping. The truth is that the corruption on Wall Street is much deeper and much more systemic than most of us ever dared to imagine.

Vast amounts of food trashed despite incentives

Farmers, restaurants and supermarkets throw away millions of tons of edible food each year at a time when a growing number of Californians struggle to put food on the table.

More than 6 million tons of food products are dumped annually, enough to fill the Staples Center in Los Angeles 35 times over, state studies have found. Food is the largest single source of waste in California, making up 15.5 percent of the state's waste stream, according to the California Integrated Waste Management Board.

'Go For Broke' U.S. Campaign In Kandahar Faces Array Of Challenges

The Obama administration's campaign to drive the Taliban out of Afghanistan's second-largest city is a go-for-broke move that even its authors are unsure will succeed.

The bet is that the Kandahar operation, backed by thousands of U.S. troops and billions of dollars, will break the mystique and morale of the insurgents, turn the tide of the war and validate the administration's Afghanistan strategy.

There is no Plan B.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The complete absence of any depth of true planning and critical thinking regarding the US occupation of Afghanistan has been nothing if not consistently spectacularly flawed.

The Russians are laughing their collective heads off, watching the US make the same mistakes in tactics and judgment that the old Soviet Union made during their occupation of this country.

What the US should do is go home, declare victory, and negotiate with whatever government is left standing in Kabul regarding the rights to the pipeline installations which would enable the West to control Eurasian oil; but of course, that would be logical.

Cleaning oil-soaked wetlands may be impossible

The gooey oil washing into the maze of marshes along the Gulf Coast could prove impossible to remove, leaving a toxic stew lethal to fish and wildlife, government officials and independent scientists said.

Officials are considering some drastic and risky solutions: They could set the wetlands on fire or flood areas in hopes of floating out the oil.

They warn an aggressive cleanup could ruin the marshes and do more harm than good. The only viable option for many impacted areas is to do nothing and let nature break down the spill.
