Beach Trips and the Managing of Perceptions

The Israel government- and military-authorities believe, that it is unimportant how Israel actually behaves towards the Palestinian people or their other neighbours, if only the public perception of it all can be successfully managed:
Reality is nothing, image is everything.
This is the philosophical view shared by Israeli and other fascist elites with their deep disdain for ordinary people.

Cheney defends torture policy and CIA torturer

In an interview broadcast Sunday, former vice president Dick Cheney defended the brutal interrogations carried out at CIA secret prisons under the direction of the Bush administration and denounced the proposed investigation of a handful of CIA agents for some of the most flagrant acts of torture.

The interview itself was a demonstration of journalistic sycophancy, as Fox News interviewer Chris Wallace avoided using the word "torture" at any point in his questioning of Cheney. The 25-minute discussion focused largely on last week’s release of a heavily censored report by the CIA inspector general, drafted in 2004, which detailed acts that clearly violate the International Convention Against Torture, ratified by the US government a quarter-century ago.

Zionism: An ‘abnormal’ nationalism

Since Zionism was a nationalism without a homeland or a nation, its protagonists would have to create both. To compensate for the first deficit, the Zionists would have to acquire a homeland: they would have to expropriate territory that belonged to another people. In other words, a homeless nationalism, of necessity, is a charter for conquest and -- if it is exclusionary -- for ethnic cleansing...
The Zionists were determined to reenact in the middle of the twentieth century the exclusive settler colonialism of an earlier epoch....

Key Democrat Senator objects to CIA torture probe

A key Democratic senator Sunday criticized a US Justice Department investigation into abusive CIA interrogations of Al-Qaeda detainees as poorly timed, signaling broadening opposition to the probe.

Dianne Feinstein, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, raised her objections in a CBS television interview while former vice president Dick Cheney was blasting the probe on Fox television as “an outrageous political act.”

Saying she, too, was “horrified” by a classified 2004 Central Intelligence Agency report that detailed abusive interrogation practices, Feinstein said she understood Attorney General Eric Holder’s reasons for ordering a review of the interrogation program.

“However, I think the timing of this is not very good,” Feinstein said.

Flashback: Israel helped Idi Amin take power

But why was Israel so interested in a landlocked country in Central Africa? The reason is spelt out by Slater in a later telegram. Israel was backing rebellion in southern Sudan to punish Sudan for supporting the Arab cause in the Six-Day War. "They do not want the rebels to win. They want to keep them fighting."
The Israelis had helped train the new Uganda army in the 1960s. Shortly after independence Amin was sent to Israel on a training course. When he became chief of staff of the new army Amin also ran a sideline operation for the Israelis, supplying arms and ammunition to the rebels in southern Sudan.

Why the 'O'-Ministration Will Implode in Weeks

Never has an administration who had more firepower at their disposal, been set to so totally fail in the next six to eight weeks. It is nearly a foregone conclusion. It is nearly unavoidable. And it defies all logic given the sizable majority the administration has in both houses of Congress.

Since I was the first pundit to predict Obama's presidency (Dec 2006) it behooves me to tell you the course I believe the next few weeks will take and effectively halt the radical transformation that the left appeared unstoppable with only months ago.

I'll Give Up My Chicken When They Pry It From My Cold Dead Hands

Last week I had dinner with two friends, one of whom is what the mainstream would call a conspiracy nut. Over the course of a couple of hours and a bunch of margaritas he walked us through everything from the government's role in 9/11 to the FEMA internment camps to the surge in gun regulations, all of which are scary, but also mostly beyond my experience. I'm a finance guy who gets the monetary side of what's coming, but I don't own guns (yet) and have no first-hand knowledge of 9/11 or FEMA camps. So - while some or all of these things might be true - it was still a bit academic.

MORE THAN ONE WAY TO RECLAIM THE POWER TO CREATE MONEY: An Open Letter to the American Monetary Institute, August 28, 2009

It is submitted that our proposals aim for the same thing – reclaiming the money power for the people themselves. We would just get there by different routes. My public bank would create credit on its books, lend it, and charge interest on it. You would have a public entity create money and lend it to private banks at interest, which would then lend it to consumers and businesses at interest. The private banks in your scheme would no doubt tack their interest costs onto the interest charged to the end borrowers, since banks are in the business of making a profit, and that is the only way they could make a profit in your system. My proposal would just eliminate the profits to the private banker middlemen.

Swine Flu: Natural Pandemic or Man-Made Pandemonium?

The latest in the barrage of media reports on swine flu is a Bloomberg news report (August 25, 2009) that it might hospitalize 1.8 million patients in the US and over-burden hospital intensive care units.

This comes from a planning scenario released by the President's Council of Advisers on Science and Technology

The Bloomberg story cites some theatrical numbers:

* Half of the US population infected (that is, over 150 million people)
* 300,000 people in hospital intensive care units
* 30–90,000 people dead
* By-pass surgery emergency operations disrupted

But hidden in paragraph 5 of the Bloomberg piece is the most pertinent part:

Big Isle police hunt for marijuana

HILO (AP) - Big Island police report that a marijuana eradication effort this month led to the destruction of 5,500 plants ranging from seedlings to 8 feet tall.

Lt. Richard Sherlock of Hilo Vice Section said that the ''Counter Cannabis'' missions were conducted using the Big Island's $159,000 portion of a statewide federal grant provided for the fiscal year ended June 30.

He called it ''leftover money'' secured before passage last November of a ballot initiative directing the Hawaii County Council to decline state and federal money for marijuana eradication.

The initiative also made personal use of marijuana the lowest priority for police.

Staff cutbacks may mean slim pickings for Christmas trees

KAHULUI - In addition to causing delays in food shipments and ending flower shipments to the Mainland, the layoff of state agricultural inspectors could result in a shortage of Christmas trees in Hawaii this year.

Carol Okada, manager of the Hawaii Department of Agriculture's Plant Quarantine Branch, said her division would likely not have the resources to inspect the nearly 200 containers of Christmas trees imported to the state, and she would not allow them to enter unchecked because they are considered very likely to contain nasty invasive pests including snakes and tree wasps.

"We know Christmas trees are wanted by families; it's just such a high-risk commodity," she said.

Inspector layoffs may mean near ‘shutdown’ of imports

PUKALANI - Plant quarantine officials said last week that laying off more than half the state's agricultural inspectors would create such a logjam at Hawaii ports that it could cause shortages similar to those seen during shipping strikes.

Carol Okada, manager of the Hawaii Department of Agriculture's Plant Quarantine Branch, said she has not been able to develop a plan for how her department will continue its core functions after it loses 52 employees, 50 of them inspectors, to layoffs planned for November.

"There's such a reliance on imports," she said Thursday. "When this is impacted, it's just like having a dock strike, but in Hawaii. It's a shutdown."

The video has been identified, and yes it is an authentic video and does indeed show an Israeli soldier shooting a bound and blindfolded Palestinian. The incident, which took place last year, prompted outrage around the world.

Side note, what Israel means when they say "Rubber bullet" is not the over-sized soft crowd dispersal devices used in other countries but a steel bullet with a rubber coating. At close range it is capable of inflicting serious injury.

This brings us back to YouTube. The video is confirmed authentic. The human rights group which video taped it intended it for public distribution. There is no copyright violations issue, yet YouTube deleted this video from my channel for "terms of use violation."

Why?

Hareidi and national-religious rabbis will meet Monday in Jerusalem to discuss ways of dealing with the Arab influx into Jewish neighborhoods in northern Jerusalem, as well as the purchasing of agricultural land in the Galilee by wealthy foreign Arabs.

The U.S. Invades and Occupies Pakistan

Obama is fulfilling his campaign promise to Pakistan. The sudden arrival of U.S. marines, U.S. military Hummers, the hired killers of Blackwater, houses barricaded for U.S. personnel in Islamabad and the construction of the world's largest U.S. "Embassy" are terrorizing this nation of 180 million people. Eye witnesses and informed journalists have been reporting sightings of U.S. personnel in Islamabad for the past week or so, but now they are seen moving freely throughout the capital.

Netanyahu 'doesn't care what Britain thinks of Israel'

The editor of The Jewish Chronicle has accused Israel's Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, of not caring about British public opinion after he refused to give any interviews during his visit to London last week.

In a comment piece in the newspaper, Stephen Pollard – though essentially supportive of Mr Netanyahu – concludes of his office: "The truth of it is that for all they moan about coverage of the Middle East, they don't actually care. They don't care if Brits end up thinking they are warmongers. They don't care if they are losing the PR war. And they don't care if those of us who do care are left fuming at their wilful refusal to do anything to help us counter Israel's appalling image."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Stephen Pollard: the Netanyahu government doesn't give a flying Frisbee as to what any country or that country's citizens think, and why should they?

The world press still describes Israelis as "victims of Palestinian aggression and violence", and any Israeli human rights group attempting to show that's not really the truth gets smeared and shredded by the Israeli media machinery.

Any criticism of Israeli policy, no matter how absolutely wrong-headed or anti-humanitarian toward the Palestinian people (like the siege of Gaza) is immediately labeled "Anti-Semitic".

And critically importantly, Mr. Pollard;the money and military aid keeps flowing in from the US, no matter how much Israel spits in President Obama's face, and tells him it's raining.

Under these conditions, Mr. Pollard, should Netanyahu give a rat's sphincter about what anyone's or any country's opinion of Israel was?

Absolutely not!

'IAEA hiding incriminating evidence'

"The IAEA is the only body recognized by the international community that can prevent the games of deception being played by Iran as it works to build nuclear weapons," a senior Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post Saturday.

While Israeli officials would not give details about the information the IAEA was allegedly hiding, "we're talking about information that would be far more incriminating for Iran," the official said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Remember the hatchet job done on the IAEA and Hans Blix right before the US attacked Iraq, because Blix wouldn't lie and say to the world that Iraq had no, zero, nada, zip, weapons of mass destruction?

Israel is trying the same damned thing here.

But of course, the truth never matters, either to Israel or the US.

The big lie will continue to be spun until the UN - and by extension the IAEA - becomes yet again "irrelevant", and we're off on yet again a military misadventure against Iran.

And notice the timing of the uptick of war drumbeats. The Group of 6 meets this week, the IAEA meets on 7 September, and the UN General Assembly meets toward the end of next month.

Obama has given Iran till the end of September - that's 30 days away, folks - to accede to his demands that Iran stop the nuclear enrichment to which it is perfectly entitled as a signatory of the NPT.

Iran will not concede because it understands that it is perfectly within its right to use nuclear energy in a peaceful way, and that includes building a power plant.

Russia has warned that an attack on Iran will lead to a third world war, and has been very clear to Tel Aviv and Washington about which side they will be on, should such a military conflict happen.

War with Russia, anyone?!?

Palestinians say full settlement freeze is precondition to new peace talks

A senior Palestinian peace negotiator says the terms of a proposed Israeli deal to restart the peace process, leaked to the press this week, are unacceptable. But he did not rule out a meeting at the United Nations next month between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

The proposed Israeli deal to temporarily freeze settlement expansion in the West Bank, with exceptions made for all of East Jerusalem and what Israel calls the "natural growth" of existing settlements, was reported by the Guardian, a British newspaper, on Tuesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Netanyahu knows that his proposal is a non-starter for Palestinian negotiators, which is precisely why he put this proposal on the table.

At the end of the day, Netanyahu will spit in Obama's face and tell him it's raining, the peace process will sputter and die again, the US will continue to sign the checks for the massive military aid, and somehow get conned into, yet again, "neutralizing" another one of Israel's "existential threats", Iran, just as we did with Iraq.

Remember the war and occupation of Iraq? Remember how it was started on a pack of lies, none of which ultimately held up under any logical scrutiny whatsoever?

And notice which country still has the body bags coming back from Iraq.

Notice which country has the gravely physically and mentally wounded coming back from Iraq.

Notice which country is rapidly going broke because of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Notice that this country is not Israel.

U.S. Says Pakistan Made Changes to Missiles Sold for Defense

The United States has accused Pakistan of illegally modifying American-made missiles to expand its capability to strike land targets, a potential threat to India, according to senior administration and Congressional officials.

While American officials say that the weapon in the latest dispute is a conventional one — based on the Harpoon antiship missiles that were sold to Pakistan by the Reagan administration as a defensive weapon in the cold war — the subtext of the argument is growing concern about the speed with which Pakistan is developing new generations of both conventional and nuclear weapons.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were the people in the Regan administration who made this original deal with Pakistan think for a second that Pakistani scientists were too stupid to ultimately be able to make these modifications, or that the Pakistani government wouldn't push their scientists to get more out of these weapons systems?

Also, this administration is looking for a reason, any reason, to push the Af-Pak war even further into Pakistani territory.

This charge, whether true or not, may be just what this administration is looking for to justify that push, and "save nuclear-armed Pakistan from itself".

Someone mentions that porn is the single largest money maker and a number of people from a certain nation make it understood that their people need to protect their investment. One of them says that, “It’s no different than the opium except for the medium of delivery.” Someone from Australia wants surfers to get licenses to access the internet. Someone from England wants alarm centers that identify who’s reading and listening to what.

DOJ May Skirt Court Order on Interrogation Documents

The Obama administration may circumvent the spirit of a judge’s order to disclose hundreds of documents relating to the CIA’s Bush-era interrogation program, delivering instead generic descriptions of the documents and legal arguments for continued nondisclosure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If the DOJ does this, it should be slapped with a contempt of court citation, and those refusing to divulge this information spend some time in the slammer until they do divulge this information, period, end of discussion.

Otherwise, this country has absolutely morphed from a country ruled by laws to a country ruled by men. And no person, even in the DOJ, should ever believe, for one fraction of a second, that they are above the law.

Top soldier: US forces lack credibility in Afghanistan

In a statement published on the Web site of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mullen, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, said: “Our biggest problem isn’t caves; it’s credibility. Our messages lack credibility because we haven’t invested enough in building trust and relationships, and we haven’t always delivered on promises.”

Mullen admitted that public-relations disasters like the abuses at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and civilian deaths in air strikes in Afghanistan are hurting the US’s efforts to bring stability to Afghanistan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I suppose we are supposed to congratulate Admiral Mullen on his magnificent grasp of the obvious.

But now what: obliterate the Afghan people by bombing every man, woman, and child, so that there will absolutely no opposition to US/NATO occupation and the get those damned pipelines installed to control Eurasian oil, OR...develop a Marshall Plan for Afghanistan that is actually going to work?

The US military cannot do both. The Taliban understands that: it is high time our military and civilian leadership understands that, or just get the heck out of that country, period, end of discussion.

Fired From $105,000 Job For Emailing A Rense.com Story

As much as I regret e-mailing the link to that article - about the conflict in Georgia, authored by Karl Schwarz - within the work place, in the final analysis once you know the truth about the powerful, demonic forces at work in this world - well, you know the truth. And there's no going back. And I would think that the normal reaction of most decent people, after learning of these truths, is to want to spread the word, alert their friends and family and yes, work colleagues - and try to wake folks up, save the Republic! etc.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OKay folks, a little common sense...

At WRH I encourage you to read this website and swap emails IN THE PRIVACY OF YOUR OWN HOME.

Let us be fair; that computer sitting on your desktop belongs to your employer and is provided to you to do the work your employer pays you to do. Yes, some employers have a very relaxed attitude about personal use of the systems as long as the paid work is getting done, but it is still their machine, their workplace, and their rules.

Beyond that, many corporations today are surviving on government contracts, and are nervous about employees with points of views that are contrary to government dogma. Large organizations inevitably will have an FBI informants somewhere in top management, and and the recent $101.7 million lawsuit settlement illustrates, the FBI goons lie, cheat, steal, and frame to get what they want.

These days we all have computers at home, plus our smart phones, and we can and should conduct our private conversations in private time, if for no other reason than to keep the FBI informant at the office from finding out just what we all know!

I sympathize with this guy who lost his job, but we all know the other side plays dirty. So exercise the appropriate care.

No occupation in Britain inspires greater public admiration than nursing.

And yet in recent years, the profession has gone desperately wrong. A report this week by the Patients Association reveals that since 2002, up to a million patients have experienced shockingly poor standards of nursing care in the NHS.

Some were not fed; others were left in soiled bedclothes.

Lockerbie bomber 'set free for oil'

The British government decided it was “in the overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom” to make Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, eligible for return to Libya, leaked ministerial letters reveal.

Gordon Brown’s government made the decision after discussions between Libya and BP over a multi-million-pound oil exploration deal had hit difficulties. These were resolved soon afterwards.

The letters were sent two years ago by Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to Kenny MacAskill, his counterpart in Scotland, who has been widely criticised for taking the formal decision to permit Megrahi’s release.

Who is funding the Afghan Taliban? You don’t want to know

Up until quite recently, most experts thought that drug money accounted for the bulk of Taliban funding

The new feeling is that less than half of the Taliban’s war chest comes from poppy, with a variety of sources, including private contributions from Persian Gulf states, accounting for much of the rest. Holbrooke told reporters that he would add a member of the Treasury Department to his staff to pursue the question of Taliban funding.

But perhaps U.S. officials need look no further than their own backyard.

Only 4% Of Israelis Say Obama Is "Pro-Israel"

The number of Israelis who see US President Barack Obama's policies as pro-Israel has fallen to four percent, according to a Smith Research poll taken this week on behalf of The Jerusalem Post.

A much-cited Post poll published on June 19 that put the first figure at 6% had been cited by top officials in both the White House and the Prime Minister's Office as the catalyst for recent American efforts to improve the American-Israeli relationship. But the new poll proves that efforts have not improved Obama's reputation among Israelis.

Living In A Culture of Delusion

Living In A Culture of Delusion Leads To Denial, Ignorance and Worse
By Danny Schechter

At long last, a report on CIA abuse of detainees came out, but years after the fact, and in a heavily “redacted” form—i.e censored. Already the prosecutor chosen to prosecute says there’s not enough information there to do so. Duh?

It gets even worse when people cling to beliefs even when they are not true, as if there is a need to believe, facts be dammed.

CIA Releases Its Instructions For Breaking a Detainee's Will

As the session begins, the detainee stands naked, except for a hood covering his head. Guards shackle his arms and legs, then slip a small collar around his neck. The collar will be used later; according to CIA guidelines for interrogations, it will serve as a handle for slamming the detainee's head against a wall.

After removing the hood, the interrogator opens with a slap across the face -- to get the detainee's attention -- followed by other slaps, the guidelines state. Next comes the head-slamming, or "walling," which can be tried once "to make a point," or repeated again and again.

MSM/US Gov't in panic mode? Why is America so angry?

Summer of our discontent: Why is America so angry?
Steven Thomma | McClatchy Newspapers
August 28, 2009 08:08:29 PM
Untold numbers of Americans seethe with anger at Obama and his fellow Democrats, resentment coupled with fear even more intense than the rage other Americans expressed just a year ago at George W. Bush and the Republicans. One telling sign: The comparisons of the president to Hitler remain the same — only the face has changed from Bush to Obama.

Anouncing a new web site: The Science of 9/11

There is much controversy over what happened that day, not only between those who support and those who dispute the official explanation but also among various groups within the “9/11 truth movement”. The basic purpose of this website is to examine and present soundly based scientific evidence that the buildings were brought down by “controlled demolition” using explosives. It is hoped that this will provide a clear picture by collecting together the most compelling evidence for demolition, while avoiding those aspects of 9/11 which are still in dispute.

The US administration does not admit the possibility that the towers were brought down with explosives. The government has authorized three investigations, all of which attempt to explain the collapses of the towers as due solely to the combined effects of the plane impacts and the resultant fires. None of the investigations properly examines the question of whether controlled demolition might better fit the observations.

Secret camps and guillotines? Groups make birthers look sane
By Steven Thomma, McClatchy Newspapers Fri Aug 28,
However, the accusations are out there, a series of fantastic claims fed by paranoia about the government. They're spread and sometimes cross-pollinated via the Internet. They feed a fringe subset of the anger at the government percolating through the country, one that ignites passion, but also helps Obama's allies to discount broader anger at the president's agenda.

More votes than voters

Across Kabul, turnout was sluggish. But at Haji Janat Gul the lack of voters had not dented the tally of votes. Only an hour after voting began, 6,000 had been cast. Yet not a voter was in sight. Staff insisted that the 6,000 had all come at 7am, when polls opened: “The Taliban said that they would cut off the fingers of people voting so they came early.”

This was impossible. Typically it takes four minutes to vote. For 6,000 to have voted in an hour at the 12 ballot boxes, they would have had an average of seven seconds each. The Electoral Complaints Commission later received allegations that the ballot boxes had been stuffed for President Hamid Karzai before polls opened, at the instigation of a local MP and tribal leader.
