COMING UP SHORT THIS MONTH.
Thought for the day
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.
The functions of every government have propensities to command at will the liberty and property of their constituents.
There is no safe deposit for these but with the people themselves; nor can they be safe with them without information. Where the press is free, and every man able to read, all is safe." -- Thomas Jefferson
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s office has responded to students walking out of school this week in protest of the new state guidelines for how schools handle transgender issues.
Joe Biden on Wednesday delivered remarks at a White House conference on hunger, nutrition and health.
US military helicopters habitually and on numerous occasions circled for hours over the site of the Nord Stream pipelines incident near Bornholm Island earlier in September, Flightradar24 data showed.
Earlier this month, a US Navy Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter spent hours loitering over the location of the damaged natural gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea near Bornholm for several days in a row, September 1, 2, and 3, in particular.
Denmark's maritime traffic agency and Sweden's Maritime Authority on Monday reported a "dangerous" gas leak in the Baltic Sea close to the route of the inactive Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which experienced an unexplained drop in pressure.
The Ukrainian army has attacked a refugee convoy in the eastern region of Kharkov, killing over 30 people, according to the Lugansk People’s Republic’s envoy to Russia.
Rodion Miroshnik wrote on his Telegram channel that those killed in the artillery bombardment included children. He added that emergency services are unable to access the bodies, as shelling from Kiev’s forces continues. The republic’s health ministry stated that seven other people were injured, including two children who lost their parents in the shelling.
Miroshnik claimed the Ukrainian army knew exactly who they were shooting at, as they had allegedly used drones to track down the refugee vehicle convoy and were “intentionally aiming at civilians.” Kiev has yet to respond to the allegations.
Illegal immigration continues to make cities unsafe.
As unlawful immigrants flood border towns, businesses shutter their doors, and residents train their children to use weapons. The new Legislation will allow towns and cities to take control because the Biden administration refuses to.
According to Fox News, “Legislation introduced by Sen. Josh Hawley on Tuesday would allow states to enforce federal immigration law.” This legislation “includes the deportation of illegal immigrants. Senator Hawley calls for the US to ‘take the gloves off to fight unlawful immigration.”
Either the United States bombed the pipes directly, or the US puppet state “Ukraine” bombed the pipes in the name of the Western war on Russia.
There is no other possibility.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has asked who the EU intends to punish with the “strongest possible response” for damage to the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
The diplomat said Poland’s former foreign minister has already identified the US as the party behind the apparent sabotage. Radoslaw Sikorski is well connected to Washington elites through his employment at various think tanks.
The two Nord Stream pipelines were seriously damaged this week in what is suspected to have been a deliberate attack.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday called the incident “sabotage action” and warned that “any deliberate disruption of active European energy infrastructure is unacceptable and will lead to the strongest possible response.”
The Washington Post website pushes its follow-up story on the the sabotage of three of the four Nord Stream gas pipelines from Russia to Germany way down the site. This rather dull article more or less assumes the Russians Dun It but devotes much of its moderate length to analyzing the methane release from a global warming standpoint (which is minor):
Joe Biden on Wednesday delivered remarks from the Rose Garden to celebrate the Americans with Disabilities Act and mark Disability Pride Month.
The Spanish Minister of Equality Irene Montero recently spoke before a legislative commission and said that children “have the right to know that they can love and have sexual relations with ANYONE that they want” and that no adult may touch a child’s body, but only “if they don’t want them to.”
Less than a day after being released from prison on no bail for failing to register as a sex offender, the ex-con is back behind bars for attempted kidnapping and battery.
It was reported earlier today that a young man and recent graduate from Temple University was gunned down in Philidelphia.
The Baltic Pipe Project is a strategic gas infrastructure project with the goal of creating a new gas supply corridor in the European market.
The Baltic Pipe Project will allow transport of gas from Norway to the Danish and Polish markets, as well as to end-users in neighbouring countries. At the same time, the Baltic Pipe Project will enable the supply of gas from Poland to the Danish market.
The project is being developed in collaboration between the Danish gas and electricity transmission system operator Energinet and the Polish gas transmission system operator GAZ-SYSTEM.
Moscow insists on a probe into the circumstances of "unprecedented attacks" on Russian Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the Russian embassy to the United States said on Wednesday.
"We note the attempts by some U.S. legislators to put blame on Russia for the incidents that occurred on Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines," it said. "Perhaps, they have a better view from the top of Capitol Hill. But if that is the case, they must also have seen the U.S. warships’ activities at the very site of the Russian infrastructure disruption just the day before. Or noticed drones and helicopters fly over there. Or observed U.S. Navy exercises with underwater explosives that have been conducted in the same area some time ago. Finally, they should have recalled the promises made by President Biden to "bring an end" to the Nord Stream 2 project."
The New START Treaty is nearing its expiration and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is experiencing serious shocks, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said in an article published on the website of the US’ National Interest magazine on Wednesday.
He noted that the situation in the sphere of arms control is deplorable. "The ABM and INF treaties have sunk into oblivion. The Open Skies Treaty has virtually ceased to exist," he said. "The New START Treaty is approaching the end of its duration and, as we have repeatedly said, is not fully implemented by the American side. The NPT is experiencing serious shocks."
"No one can foretell what will happen next," he stressed, adding that "all of this is a result of U.S. policy." "Washington withdrew from the treaties in order to gain security advantages, especially in confronting Russia. It is in a constant search for opportunities to achieve global military dominance," he explained.
US President Joe Biden should issue a reply as to whether the United States had carried out its threat over the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
"US President Joe Biden must answer the question of whether the United States carried out its threat on September 25 and 26 when an emergency was reported at three lines of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2, which has been preliminarily recognized as ruptures, whereas he suggested those were blown up," the Russian diplomat said on her Telegram channel. On it, she posted a video in which the US leader delivers the speech in question.
"His statement of intent was backed up with a promise. One must be responsible for one’s words. Failure to understand what one says does not absolve anyone of responsibility. Europe must know the truth!" Zakharova emphasized.
Moscow is warning Washington and London against reckless moves that could push the situation around Ukraine to a dangerous point, Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, said on Wednesday.
He made the statement in a speech at the plenary session of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation.
"By modernizing its own nuclear potential, Washington is encouraging an irresponsible escalation of nuclear rhetoric by its allies in London, who openly declare their unconditional readiness to press the ‘red button’ if necessary. We are warning Washington and London against rash steps that could bring the situation around Ukraine closer to a dangerous point," he w
Another natural gas pipeline has apparently been blown up.
Reports are now flooding-in of a massive pipeline explosion in (or near) the northern boundary of Kherson Oblast, one of the regions where a recently finished Public Referendum saw that region vote to leave Ukraine and join Russia.
Reports are sketchy right now, and information is hard to come by, but according to maps of the gas line network inside Ukraine, this particular pipeline is likely to be the SOYUZ pipeline from Russia to Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
Again, information is sketchy right now.
What __is__ confirmed is that there has been a massive gas pipeline explosion inside Ukraine.
"Afghan national Alif Khan told Amnesty International that he was held in US custody in Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan for five days in May 2002. He said that he was held in handcuffs, waist chains, and leg shackles for the whole time, subjected to sleep deprivation, denied water for prayer or washing, and was kept in a cage-like structure with eight people.” Amnesty International
Myers Enterprises located in the US State of Denver, Colorado, produces the "stun cuff” that shocks unruly prisoners back to order. It takes international orders. Axon Enterprise made $863 million in revenue in 2021 with one of its core product being the Taser, according to its Investor Slide Deck. There are 960 thousand Tasers floating around the United States and in Europe. Axon sells a number of other products particularly integrated computing observation and reporting systems. While there are complaints about deaths involving Taser's, or what are known as Conducting Electricity Devices (CED's), in June 2022 the Office of Justice Programs found that. "law enforcement need not refrain from deploying CEDs, provided the devices are used in accordance with accepted national guidelines.” Meanwhile, Amnesty International in a December 2020 report seeks strict controls on CED's (good luck with that). Since a Taser is a form of gun, it falls, arguably, under the protection of the Second Amendment to the US Constitution (the right to keep and bear arms).
NATO member countries conducted drills in July using deep-sea equipment near the Nord Streams leaks site, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.
"In July, there were NATO drills with the use of deep-sea equipment in the area of the island of Bornholm," she said.
Zakharova also stressed that the region was crammed with NATO infrastructure.
On Tuesday, the Nord Stream AG company reported that three threads of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 offshore gas pipelines had suffered unprecedented damage on Monday. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow was "deeply concerned about the news" and did not rule out that the pipelines’ operation could have been disrupted by an act of sabotage. Swedish seismologists later reported that two explosions had been recorded along the Nord Stream pipelines on Monday.
The US and some other Western countries announced the evacuation of their citizens from the Russian territory. In a context of tensions between Moscow and NATO, this type of attitude sounds like a threat, further worsening the scenario of global security crisis.
The US State Department has asked Russia-based American citizens to leave the country immediately. The appeal was posted on the website of the US Embassy in Russia. The justification for the advice was that Moscow could mobilize citizens who have dual nationality, which is why foreigners based in Russia should flee as quickly as possible, before they are mobilized for combat on Ukrainian soil. The statement also highlights that there are currently a limited number of flights from Russia to other countries, and tickets for the next dates may not be available, so US citizens residing in Russia should hurry to leave.
It is interesting to analyze the communiqué issued by the Embassy when the reality of the mobilization promoted by Russia is not only partial but also absolutely moderate. The call-up of combatants has been promoted in a balanced way, with no urgency for foreign citizens to flee in a hurry to avoid being mobilized. Moscow has shown no interest in forcing foreign nationals with Russian passports to serve in the special military operation, which makes the American narrative weak and unsubstantiated.
For decades former Nazis and German war criminals served at the highest echelons of NATO. Most of them were highly decorated Nazis, who later served in top positions in the Western German army, and were later promoted to serve as Commander and Chief of all NATO forces in Europe. This was not a unique event, but a very common phenomenon in post WW2 western Europe and especially in Western Germany.
On the very day the world learns about the sabotage of Russia’s Nordstream 1 and Nordstream 2, guess what else happened? Well, Ukrainians from the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporhyzhia and Kherson oblasts voted in overwhelming numbers to become Russians. While that is a game changer that is not what I had in mind.
How about this–Poland on Tuesday inaugurated a new pipeline that will transport gas from Norway through Denmark and the Baltic Sea? That is it!!! What a coincidence!! Or is it?
There is at least one prominent Polish citizen who believes the United States merits praise for sabotaging the Nordstream pipelines. Former former Polish Defense Minister, Radek Sikorski, who happens to be married to Anne Appelbaum, an enthusiastic neo-con masquerading as a journalist, tweeted the following upon learning that the Nordstream lines were now “złamany” (Polish for”kaput”): “Thank you, USA.”
Shocking photos show the extent of devastation left by Hurricane Ian as it raged across southwest portion of Florida on Sunday, bringing with it historic flooding and widespread power outages.
The stark before and after images show the catastrophic flooding as the historic storm heads north to the central part of the state, causing nearby Virginia, Georgia, and North and South Carolina to issue their own state of emergencies.
Fort Myers was one worst battered by Ian, with apocalyptic photos showing homes decimated by its wrath as roads turned into rivers with the tsunami of floodwater.
The source added that the explosives were unlikely to have been planted by a Russian submarine, as the Baltic Sea is relatively shallow, making such a clandestine operation not hard to detect.
However, the source said that “a suspected act of sabotage” was “possibly” carried out by Russia, without providing any evidence to support this claim.
The sabotage of the Nord Stream (NS) and Nord Stream 2 (NS2) pipelines in the Baltic Sea has ominously propelled ‘Disaster Capitalism’ to a whole new, toxic level.
This episode of Hybrid Industrial/Commercial War, in the form of a terror attack against energy infrastructure in international waters signals the absolute collapse of international law, drowned by a “our way or the highway”, “rules-based”, order.
The attack on both pipelines consisted of multiple explosive charges detonated in separate branches close to the Danish island of Bornholm, but in international waters.
That was a sophisticated operation, carried out in stealth in the shallow depth of the Danish straits. That would in principle rule out submarines (ships entering the Baltic are limited to a draught of 15 meters). As for prospective “invisible” vessels, these could only loiter around with permission from Copenhagen – as the waters around Borholm are crammed with sensors, reflecting fear of incursion by Russian submarines.
