Thought for the day
"We're so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody's going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save the snails. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? Save the planet? We don't even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven't learned how to care for one another. We're gonna save the fuckin' planet? . . . And, by the way, there's nothing wrong with the planet in the first place. The planet is fine. The people are fucked! Compared with the people, the planet is doin' great. It's been here over four billion years . . . The planet isn't goin' anywhere, folks. We are! We're goin' away. Pack your shit, we're goin' away. And we won't leave much of a trace. Thank God for that. Nothing left. Maybe a little Styrofoam. The planet will be here, and we'll be gone. Another failed mutation; another closed-end biological mistake." -- George Carlin
The proposal to ban these products was approved by the California Air Resources Board. While the ban does not cover gas stoves, many cities in the state are encouraging a switch to electric-only appliances.

Major leaks in two important Russian gas pipelines, Nord Stream 1 and 2, are most likely sabotage, according to Western nations, but the question of who is responsible remains unanswered – and some experts suggest that the U.S. could have been behind it.
Democrats' 2024 presidential prospects have been characterized as being "increasingly bleak." Among the many problems now facing the nation, the White House must contend with responsibility over a looming recession, an unprecedented border crisis, and a devastating opioid epidemic.

President Joe Biden is preparing to sign an executive order protecting 600,000 illegal immigrants from deportation, NBC News reported Thursday, citing “people close to the White House.”
The move is being made in advance of a decision from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals regarding the future of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
DACA protects illegal immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children — so-called Dreamers — from deportation and allows them access to work permits.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is refusing to release the results of autopsies conducted on people who died after getting COVID-19 vaccines.
The FDA says it is barred from releasing medical files, but a drug safety advocate says that it could release the autopsies with personal information redacted.
The refusal was issued to The Epoch Times, which submitted a Freedom of Information Act for all autopsy reported obtained by the FDA concerning any deaths reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System following COVID-19 vaccination.
Reports are lodged with the system when a person experiences an adverse event, or a health issue, after receiving a vaccine. The FDA and other agencies are tasked with investigating the reports. Authorities request and review medical records to vet the reports, including autopsies.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has asserted that abortion is an economic issue because raising kids forces parents to “work more against their will.”
AOC made the claims during a House hearing about abortion restrictions on Thursday.
“Abortion is an economic issue,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Forcing poor and working-class people to give birth against their will, against their consent, against their ability to provide for themselves or a child, is a profound economic issue and it’s certainly a way to keep a workforce basically conscripted to large-scale employers and to employers to work more against their will, to take second and third jobs against their desire and their own autonomy.”
The US orchestrated the blasts on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, which delivered Russian natural gas to Germany, because they “obviously” benefit from it, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
Putin accused Washington of trying to pressure the EU into banning Russian supplies to “completely get their hands on the European market.”
“But the sanctions are no longer enough for the Anglo-Saxons,” he said, using Russian shorthand for the US-UK transatlantic alliance. “They have turned to sabotage – it’s unbelievable, but it’s a fact – by organizing the explosions on the Nord Stream international gas pipelines,” the president stated.
“They de facto began the destruction of the common European energy infrastructure. It’s obvious to everyone who benefits from it. Those who benefit are the ones who have done it.”
On Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Senate passed a stopgap bill. The bill was passed with the hopes of preventing another Government shutdown.
After the 72 to 25 vote, the bill is expected to quickly pass through the House before federal funds are expected to run out on Friday. If passed by the House as expected, the bill would delay a government shutdown until December 16, 2022.
The bill would provide $12 billion in aid to Ukraine, $1 billion in emergency aid from natural disasters, $20 million for Jackson, Mississippi’s water crisis and a five-year reauthorization for FDA user fees.
This bill was delayed by Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.VA.). Manchin wanted to add a provision to expedite the federal permit process for energy projects which would include new pipelines and electrical lines.
On Tuesday, the line was removed by Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) decision on the Senate floor. Manchin was not happy with the removal.

A US citizen named Omar Mahmoudzadeh has been killed in Iraqi Kurdistan, as the Iranian Revolutionary Guards attacked Kurdish opposition groups with missiles and drones. Mahmoudzadeh lived in the US since 1990s, Iran International reported. At least 13 people were killed and 60 injured by Iranian attacks on Iraq, presumably to interdict Iraqi Kurdish support for the insurgents. US State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel said he could not comment on Mahmoudzadeh’s death.
The Biden administration announced it would again reduce payments to Medicare physicians, this time by 8.42 percent. According to a recent survey, 92 percent of medical group practices report that Medicare payments do not cover the cost of providing care.
The federal government can stay in business when it takes in less revenue than it expends. Why? Because it can print money and no one else can. To stay in business, physicians will have to reject Medicare patients; access will decrease once again. And with Democrats pushing legislation like the wrongly named Inflation Reduction Act, things will only get worse.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) took $716 billion from Medicare to pay for non-medical, bureaucratic spending. Before the ACA, the average maximum wait time to see a primary care doctor was an unacceptable 99 days. After Obamacare was implemented with its cuts to physician payments, wait times increased to a medically unconscionable 122 days. Patients have to wait four months to find out if belly pain is gas, an ulcer, or cancer. With the latest round of cuts, the wait times could stretch from months to years.
If the TurkStream natural gas pipeline is damaged, its operator won’t be able to mount repairs damage because the Dutch government has revoked a key license due to EU sanctions against Russia, US state-run RFE/RL alleged on Thursday.
The outlet claimed to have obtained a letter from Oleg Aksyutin, CEO of South Stream Transport BV, informing the company’s managers to stop all work and cancel contracts with Western suppliers. The letter is reportedly dated September 14, and says that the Netherlands – where the company is registered – had canceled its operating license, effective September 17.
South Stream Transport operates TurkStream, a pipeline finalized in 2020, which runs under the Black Sea to Türkiye and then on to Serbia and Hungary. It has an annual capacity of 33 billion cubic meters of gas. According to Reuters, SouthStream confirmed on Thursday that the license has been revoked, but said it had requested a resumption and “will continue gas transportation.”
