Policymakers should insist manufacturers include controls in artificial intelligence-based weapons systems that allow them to be turned off if they get out of control, experts told the UK Parliament.

Speaking to the House of Lords AI in Weapons Systems Committee, Lord Sedwill, former security advisor and senior civil servant, said the "challenge" politicians should put to the tech industry is whether they can guarantee AI-enhanced weapons systems can be entirely supervised by humans.

Syndicated host Mark Walters, the founder of Armed American Radio, has filed a defamation lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging that the company’s AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT, fabricated false legal claims against him. This is believed to be the first defamation complaint related to ChatGPT, which was introduced in November 2022.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has aided a Ukrainian intelligence effort to censor social media users and obtain their personal information, leaked emails reveal.
