US Vice President Kamala Harris is on a trip to Japan and South Korea, her first visit to Japan and her second to Asia since taking office early last year. Ahead of the US midterm elections in November, Harris has increased her attacks on China, something she has not stopped doing since arriving in Japan on September 26 for the state funeral of assassinated former leader Shinzo Abe.

Vice President Kamala Harris addressed US troops in Japan on Wednesday and said the US will continue to operate in the Taiwan Strait “undaunted and unafraid.”

Harris made the comments after attending the funeral of Shinzo Abe, the former Japanese prime minister who was assassinated in July. Her trip came at a time of soaring tensions between the US and China over the issue of Taiwan.

By definition, a midget submarine is less than 150 tons, has a crew of no more than eight, has no onboard accommodations, and mates with a mother ship to provide accommodations and other support. Works.

The Japanese Navy built at least 800 midgets in 7 classes, but only a fraction had any noticeable effect on the war. Their intended purpose was initially to be deployed in front of enemy fleets, but their actual use would be in port attacks and coastal defence.

After much bluster and jawboning, the BOJ's repeated verbal intervention attempts to keep the USDJPY below 145 proved to be nothing but one giant bluff, at least for now.

Asian currencies - especially those like China and Japan refuse to tighten in sympathy - were already under huge pressure on Thursday after the Federal Reserve continued to tighten U.S. monetary policy when the Bank of Japan decided to counter the global tightening trend again, and stuck to its ultraloose stance.
