Thought for the day

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.
The functions of every government have propensities to command at will the liberty and property of their constituents.
There is no safe deposit for these but with the people themselves; nor can they be safe with them without information. Where the press is free, and every man able to read, all is safe." -- Thomas Jefferson

Thanks for all the emails and cards!

You listen with your ears, Joe —not your neck.

The White House shared an official tweet on Thursday, supposedly showing President Biden speaking with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“This morning, I spoke with Governor Ron DeSantis to discuss the steps we’re taking to support Florida in response to Hurricane Ian. I’ve also directed FEMA Administrator Criswell to travel to Florida tomorrow to check in on response and survey where additional support is needed,” Biden shared on Twitter.

In a jarring reversal, the U.S. Department of Education on Thursday quietly revised its online guidance on who qualifies for the $10,000 of student loan forgiveness that President Biden announced in August. In doing so, it pulled the rug out from under at least several hundred thousand people.

President Joe Biden is preparing to sign an executive order protecting 600,000 illegal immigrants from deportation, NBC News reported Thursday, citing “people close to the White House.”

The US orchestrated the blasts on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, which delivered Russian natural gas to Germany, because they “obviously” benefit from it, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

Putin accused Washington of trying to pressure the EU into banning Russian supplies to “completely get their hands on the European market.”

On Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Senate passed a stopgap bill. The bill was passed with the hopes of preventing another Government shutdown.

After the 72 to 25 vote, the bill is expected to quickly pass through the House before federal funds are expected to run out on Friday. If passed by the House as expected, the bill would delay a government shutdown until December 16, 2022.

If the TurkStream natural gas pipeline is damaged, its operator won’t be able to mount repairs damage because the Dutch government has revoked a key license due to EU sanctions against Russia, US state-run RFE/RL alleged on Thursday.

Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said his country is submitting an “accelerated” application to join the NATO military alliance, after Russian leader Vladimir Putin proclaimed the annexation of four partially occupied Ukrainian regions.

This week, Russian proxies in the regions held referendums viewed as illegitimate by the international community.

Michael Snyder summarizes the demolition of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines well, with links to support what we do know so far. Did the US do it? Purposeful destruction of another country’s property and logistics, conducted in international waters 300 feet below the surface of the ocean is certainly an act of war. It is also in the sweet spot of false flag operations, needed when the real reason Washington wants a particular war is not domestically com
